I am using MongoDB 3 (3. 0. 8 ...

I am using MongoDB 3 (3.0.8 to be specific) as this book supposed to be using. Many of the examples do not work. I often google around and find equivalent command or syntactic errors, fix them, and make them work. Eventually I came to page 182, and I quote:

"Go ahead and mongoimport the MongoDB data from the twitter.tgz into your database:
$ mongoimport test.json -d test -c texttest"

What the heck?? Where did that come from in a sudden? What is twitter.tgz, where is test.json?? Have you ever said a single sentence about mongoimport so far?

Once you finish writing a book, please, please proof-read not just the syntax but also the semantics..

About the Author
Dr Jean-Claude Dreher (research director, CNRS, http://dreherteam.cnc.isc.cnrs.fr/en/). Dr Dreher is the director of the Neuroeconomics, Reward and Decision making team at the 'Centre de Neurosciences Cognitives' (Lyon, France). He studied Mathematics, psychopathology and Cognitive Neuroscience in Paris. The general approach of his research group is to characterize the brain mechanisms underlying motivation and decision making in healthy subjects and to study neurological and psychiatric disorders in which these mechanisms are dysfunctional. He received two Fellow Awards for Research Excellence at the NIH. He is the author of around 40 research papers and the editor of the 'Handbook of Reward and Decision Making' (Academic PRess, Elsevier, 2009). His research has been highlighted in major scientific journals (Nature Reviews Neuroscience, PNAS, TiCS) and featured in a international media (newspapers, radio and TV programs).

Chris Wraight is the author of the Horus Heresy novel Scars, the novella Brotherhood of the Storm and the audio drama The Sigillite. For Warhammer 40,000 he has written the Space Wolves novels Blood of Asaheim and Stormcaller, and the short story collection Wolves of Fenris, as well as the Space Marine Battles novels Wrath of Iron and Battle of the Fang. Additionally, he has many Warhammer novels to his name, including the Time of Legends novel Master of Dragons, which forms part of the War of Vengeance series. Chris lives and works near Bristol, in south-west England.

Howling wolves and raging storms

This is the second volume of Chris Wraight's trilogy on the Space Wolves. While he is better known for his superb "Battle of the Fang" (the best Space Marine Battle Novel that I have come across up to now), and this volume is not really up to the same high standards, it is nevertheless more than acceptable. It also contains some interesting features.

The reason for my little upfront reservation is hinted at in this review's title. It is a bit of a rant because, of course, you would expect the Space Wolves to howl, growl and grunt, just as a Stormcaller is expected to do just that: call storms! Having mentioned this, I could not help feeling that in both cases, there was some degree of stereotype and repetition mixed up with conventional but still nice pièces about the hard life on Fenris, becoming a Space Wolf, and the mystic of the Great Wolf.

While the plot pits the Emperor's Space Wolves against the Forces of Chaos led by the Death Guard, the former also have to deal with a rather unsympathetic and treacherous Cardinal and his Ecclesiarch forces. Relations with the Wolves' allies are increasingly tense, especially when they see the Cardinal and his men acting in a very high-handed way and when they realise that they have something of a hidden agenda. I will not mention anything more of the plot except to state that, although not extraordinary and not entirely original, it was nevertheless quite good.

The main strongpoint of this book, however, resides in the cast of characters, some of which I particularly liked. One was the Cardinal, who is as awful as you can expect him to be. He made me think of the kind of fat, corrupt and self-centred prelates of the 15th and 16th century in Europe whose behaviours were at least partly responsible for the emergence of the Protestant Churches. Another rather superb character is Njal the Stormcaller himself, one of the most powerful Rune Priests of the Space Wolves. A third is the Mycelite, who is very deceptively old, seems decrepit, sounds awfully nice and has a very interesting story to tell. Then you have the wolf-pack and the relationships between its members whom you have already come across in the previous volume and which I strongly recommend you to read before this one. Finally, the book also displays the Sisters of Battle with the interesting character of its Canonness De Châtelaine, and Annaroeva, who is just as though and dedicated to her duties of Planet Governor of a major hive and forge world as you would expect a highly competent Imperial Planetary Governor to be. Also included in the book are some interesting devices and monsters with the Eclesiarch's "Penitent Engines" being the most prominent of the former and the Death Guard and forces of Chaos having a rather wide selection of the later.

With regards to the action, if you love magic and fights using the power of the Warp, then you will enjoy this volume. Those who like stories featuring assaults on space hulks will also get a treat. Just about worth four stars, since fractions cannot be used.

Gunnlauger is a Space Puppy

Well, I know everyone else seems to have enjoyed this book, but I honestly didn't. In fact, it was a mild feeing until the end, at which point I pretty much hated it.

***yep, spoilers alert***

So here's my issue...I'm not really a Space Wolf, but the end seems so far fetched I can't accept it. Gunnlauger is maybe the most spineless, doubting leader to ever leave Fenris. Anytime Ingvar feuds with him, Gunnlauger, a Wolf Guard, backs down with his tail between his legs. Njal, a living legend of the Wolves, orders a warp touched Hunter to be executed who even killed several other Wolves. Decent book. It was a huge upgrade from the first book blood of ashiem. This book had tons of action and ton of story with a surprise ending that you would not believe in a warhammer 40k book where they kill planets for defying them. The ending set the stage for the third book and I can't wait.

A Quick Read

Overall I enjoyed the book. It was quick read. I liked the build up of their relationship. A couple of reasons I didn't give it more stars is that one it needed to be proofread. There were typos and some of the sentences could have been condensed to make a more effective sentence or point. The other reason being the point of view. The switch in the same paragraph between three people's pov left me confused. I then had to backtrack to try to decide who said what multiple times.

Sweet, Romantic Story. Tugs a Little at Your Heart, But Not too Much

This story follows the lives of two women who have been burned by love: Tess through hard taught personal lessons of the pain experienced when your loves leave you, yes loves because it happened more than once, and Brooke through the pain she experiences when she was a child witnessing the end of her parents’ marriage. Both women have made it a point to protect their hearts, and for Tess, the hearts of her twins as well, from the pain that comes when love goes wrong. The story has a good setup with the chance encounter at the pizza parlor. Both women are drawn to the other and both seem to fight it.

The relationship with the kids is great. Tess’ actions and thoughts about them make you see how close they are, and Brooke just seems to fit right in. There is a bit of tension as the women start to realize their feelings, at different times, of course, but I feel that is where this story fell a bit flat. Yes it was sweet, it has some slight tension, but with more details this story could have been great. For example, when Tess discusses her brother’s death, she is bawling, but all we hear is that kind of pain is something you never get over. A little more build-up of their relationship and instead of just telling us the last year of his life was hard, show us. Providing more details and showing the emotions would have made this a more impactful read.

It also felt like it all came together too perfectly in the end. For two women who were extremely hurt by their pasts and who were scared and determined to stay away from love, it did happen rather smoothly. We are told that Tess and Brooke are both stubborn and they seem to have a lot of spunk, which I love, so I would have expected to see more internal and even external conflict between the two in dealing with love and the new relationships.

The POV changes were slightly confusing at times, but having them gave you more insight into Brooke.

Points of Awesome!:
Trouble as the triplet of twins...genius.
The characters are likeable and have some spunk which makes things interesting.
The story does play out like a movie in your head.
There is a strong family ties element to the story.
Elements of humor, like the twins giving up information about Tess or Murphy’s stubborn behavior, are well done.

Points of Improvement:
I felt there needed to be more details. There were some potentially strong emotional moments in the story where details were vague.
As mentioned, the POVs were slightly confusing, but they are needed for more background details on Brooke.

Overall: I rated this story 3 ½ because it is a good story. If you’re looking to read a sweet, romantic story that tugs a little at your emotions, but not too much, this would be a great book for you. If you’re someone likes me who prefers a strong emotional connection and want to really get drawn into the book, this might not be enough to consider a great read, but you won’t regret reading it either.

I enjoyed the book for what it was. I usually like a little more tension in my books but, well, I guess you can say it was sweet. Kinda dull and predictable. Not something I would read again and I probably won't read the sequel but it was enjoyable enough for a quick read.
